Gary's Bio

Gary is a Board Certified Holistic Integrative Nutritionist, Natural Foods Chef, Inspirational Speaker and Author. Gary began his career in Nutrition Counseling to fulfill his passion for working with children and parents to educate families on the importance of improving their health and building vibrant lives.

Gary received his training from the New England Culinary Institute, in Montpelier, VT; Pace University in Pleasantville, NY; and, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. He offers health, nutrition and lifestyle coaching to athletes, individuals, parents and families, as well as working with groups and employers to deliver customized workshops on nutrition education.

Gary became an expert in the field of natural and whole foods while doing his culinary internship on the Isle of Crete in the Mediterranean. While overseas he became passionate about whole foods, the importance of farm to table cooking and how it impacts our health. This passion lead him to begin a career that has spanned over 25 years as a Natural Foods Chef, teaching people how to cook with healthy quality ingredients and lots of flavor. Along with his passion for food comes a passion for health and nutrition. Gary is trained in more than 100 dietary theories and has studied a variety of practical lifestyle coaching methods. With his extensive knowledge and background, Gary can help you create a completely personalized roadmap to health that best suits your unique body, lifestyle, preferences and goals.

During Garys training in Holistic Health and Nutrition he studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts, including Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.

Garys education has equipped him with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and knowledge of different dietary theories, Gary is able to work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.

Gary is the owner of Healthy Palate. In August of 2012 he received the Health Leadership Award for excellence in his field. He is also a local leader for The Cookbook Project in Northern California. The Cookbook Project is an international nonprofit organization which leads youth education workshops for underserved youth (ages 12-18), using food culture and cooking to make the connection between food, health and the environment.
